Jordan Hicks
Jordan Hicks was born in 1969 in Kingston, Ontario. Each of his compositions is a tribute to nature, most often in the form of joyful explosions of wildflowers. They are both delicate and vivid, with unique combinations of colour, detail and texture.

Young Jordan's early sketches and paintings clearly demonstrate his deep love of nature. Driven by a desire to pursue a career in art and to exploit his creativity, he graduated in 1992 with a degree in graphic design. Although Jordan sees himself as self-taught, these years of study provide him with a valuable foundation in composition, colour theory and art history.
After his studies, Jordan quickly became bored with computer design, which he soon abandoned for the easel. He soon developed his approach to painting and exhibiting, and by 2007 his ambition to devote himself to his art full time had become a reality. Today, his work is shown in galleries in Ontario, Quebec and the United States.

Jordan Hicks is a sensitive artist, who draws his inspiration from his frequent outings in the open air and his admiration for the beauty that surrounds him at the time. It was in 1998, when he moved into an old farmhouse, that he literally fell under the spell of the surrounding fields and the countryside became his muse.
Amazed by the incredible diversity of life found in a cluster of wildflowers or the simple beauty of a fallow field, Jordan's signature series took root in the year 2000. These compositions are nothing less than joyous explosions of wildflowers, all in colour, pattern and depth. The energy and joyful detail of these works distinguish Jordan Hicks' work.
Jordan's expertise in watercolour, oil and acrylic has always been to take advantage of the qualities of each medium. This approach to painting has resulted in an acrylic technique that makes his work instantly recognisable. With a combination of washes and impasto, his paintings showcase singular combinations of hues and textures.
"For me, the main ingredient of a successful painting is honesty. I believe in original art and I am dedicated to producing authentic work that has a personality of its own. I choose to avoid trends. My goal is to create timeless images that reflect my vision and feelings for our natural world.”
